Downunder vodka: Imported from, you guessed it, Australia. This is a molasses vodka. I must admit the primary motivation for the purchase was the price, the liquor store had it on closeout special. The taste is similar to some other high end vodkas. I'm not quite sure which ones because they're wheat based and I haven't tasted them in quite a while, but I think Chopin and Grey Goose have a similar taste. There is a slight initial flavor and a hint of acid in the tail end. I couldn't drink very much of it on an empty stomach, but serve it with a platter of pepper jack cheese and your guests will worship you. Better than Cold River, or that Polish potato vodka starting with an L. Probably better than most of the wheat vodkas and about equal with the French grape vodka, Ciroc.

General John Stark vodka: This caught my eye because it's made out of apples and it's General John Stark. For those of you not familiar with New Hampshire history, he's the guy who said, "Live free or die: Death is not the worst of evils." Based on the name and the fact that the quote is on the bottle, you'd expect this vodka to perform a full frontal assault on your taste buds. On the contrary, it has so little taste you're left trying to imagine a taste. Maybe there's just a hint of that apple sweetness somewhere or maybe my taste buds are left wanting a hobby. When it comes to smooth, this leaves all the other high end vodkas feeling like a rural New England gravel road. Don't waste this stuff by serving it with anything else or mixing it.
