When The Who's Quadrophenia first came out remastered on gold disk I couldn't wait to buy it. I did wait though, because it was bloody expensive. Back in the day, Green's CD Review used to publish reader reviews. The only one they ever published for the gold pressing of Quadrophenia was one word: Hallelujah.

Now everything is being remastered, reissued, repressed, and re-released. For most rock and roll it doesn't really matter. Really, the stuff was mastered to be played on car stereos, what does another decibel of dynamic range mean. On a rare few it's worth a hallelujah.
