I installed the CD player in the car this morning. The player I got has auxiliary inputs so now all a need to do is plug in one cord and push a button and I can play tunes off my IRiver MP3 player in the car. Very handy for long trips. The MP3 player fits in the space under the ashtray quite well. I need to get an adapter so I can charge the player from 12 volt.
I'm thinking that might be a good upgrade for the van as well. Not having to schlep a bunch of CD's on a trip is cool.
This evening (well, if you consider 1am evening) I did a tiny bit of vacation planning. I have very limited vacation time this year and the recent batch of unfortunate incidents, wildlife encounters included, means limited funds. So in the one full week I can get we're hoping to go to Monhegan Island, visit the Wilhelm Reich Museum in Rangely, and got to King Richard's Faire down in Carver, MA. Somewhere in there we'll probably sandwich an overnight camp or two in the van.
My minimum six month stay on night shift ends at the beginning of Sept. I'm planning on using up all my vacation and sick/personal time before that. I figure I should take as much time off as possible to see the sun while I'm on the nocturnal shift. If I manage to get switched back to days after that, it'll be easier to just go away for a weekend for a break.
