there's mail and then there's maille
Aug. 25th, 2005 11:05 pmPart one of the next big chainmaille project is completed. 8,000+ little rings have been bent closed. Next is opening about 2,000 larger rings. With assembly, or knitting, being the final stage.
While poking around in the rings not yet used I discovered I had two pounds of bright aluminum rings already prepped for knitting. I'm not sure what I'm going to make with them, which is probably why they were left in that state. There might be enough there for a coif.
I also discovered I have six pounds of smaller bright aluminum rings (probably close to 50,000 rings). That's a lot of little rings. Again not sure quite how much I could make with it, but it's an impressive number of little circles.
