sometimes bad is bad
Mar. 26th, 2008 07:36 pmToday I had my annual physical, all happy there. Blood tests on the way for thyroid, uric acid, and cholesterol, but nothing unusual. I really like my doctor. She listens, balances professional and human, and gives meaningful advice without lecturing.
While running through the discussion about other factors that impact health (job, family changes, and other stressors) I mentioned how people are more stressed at work because of the downturn in retail and the increase in costs of food and gas. Her response floored me. She said that it's everywhere now, their business is notably off. Now I'd read stories about the nail salons, the restaurants, and other indulgence serving companies struggling to hold their own. Basic "I'm f*ing sick" healthcare too! Sitting their in my little johnny with my feet dangling in the air, I felt as ignorant about the economy as Bush.
