reading (Asimov's Sept)

I've managed to accumulate three unread issues of Asimov's. Yesterday, I took care of a third of the pile, reading story after story. Perhaps it's that I hadn't read anything this fun in a while or perhaps this was a particularly good issue. Either way, it was love at first read. Most of the stories were the kind that grab you from the first two lines and suck you in, not to release you until sometime after you've finished the last line. "For Want of a Nail" is one of those science fiction stories that is all about personalities and motivation, even if one of the personalities is an AI. I liked the culture and technology of "The Sultan of the Clouds". Overall, I enjoyed this issue quite a lot.
