This weekend was a two book weekend. Needless to say I didn't do much more than read all weekend and at the moment my eyeballs are ready to fall out, but it was fun and I really hadn't had a reading weekend in quite a while.

Yesterday I read this months Asimov's. It was pretty good. I'm not sure what to make of the end of "The Whale's Lover", but I think it was supposed to be one of those "Handmaid's Tale" endings. "Unlikely" was appropriately named and sweet. I was disappointed in the end of "The Perfect Wave", but I think it can be argued that the results were in character. "Alastair Baffle's Emporium of Wonders" was a clever look at two perspectives on the events. "Galaxy Blues" continues the four part story with some plot bits that really knocked my suspension of disbelief out of alignment.

Today I read Jasper Fforde's "Something Rotten". This Thursday Next novel picks up a few years after the last ended. It moves at a moderate pace and wraps up a lot of the loose ends created along the line. It still left me with a fair number of unanswered questions. I don't think this book was as strong as the earlier Next novels, but it was still a fun read.
