Never name a vehicle after a fictional character with a puckish sense of humor.
Today after working overtime I went out to the parking lot and got in Jadzia Dax ex Machina. The starter didn't, but this wasn't a surprise, we've been having that problem intermittently. No problem, I had parked at the edge of the lot on the uphill side of a very slight slope. So I gave a push, got her rolling, jumped in and popped the clutch. Stopped dead, not even a sputter. Repeat, from a little further across the lot. Ditto. Repeat again, now I'm starting to get tired of this game and I'm actually out of the spaces where I could leave her for the night. Nothing. Lucking someone with a nice new shiny truck took pity on me and pushed me across the parking lot at considerable velocity. She reluctantly started and belched a huge cloud of blue smoke at the person who had ruined her fun.
After one short trip underneath in the dirt and gravel driveway today I determined I was way too tired to accomplish much. Now I'm debating whether to skip overtime tomorrow in favor of grease or save the grease until Saturday. I did determine without a doubt that it is not the switch, it's something underneath. I should probably just pull the starter out. Somehow the thought of doing that after work tomorrow doesn't make me feel enthused about life.
