In the liner notes of David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars", in small print, there is a notice that reads "To be played at maximum volume." I love that. For me, there is all kinds of music that's meant to be played at maximum volume. I do that very rarely at present because I live in an apartment and headphones restrict movement.

"But we move like tigers on vaseline"

"Feeling unknown and you're all alone,
flesh and bone, by the telelphone"

"There's a stretch of road, up north in Maine,
that's never ever ever seen a smile."

"You were the first one,
you were the last one."

"That was oh, so many years ago,
before we all lived here in Florida,
before the mafia took over mexico."

"Well, I saw Lon Chaney
walking with a queen."

"Johnny, are you real boy?
when the lights are low,
you never hold me close."

"And up above it means an angels got his wings,
but all below it signifies is a ship 's gone in the drink."

"I remember Richard Nixon!"

There aren't any lyrics for Vivaldi cello concertos or the whirling dervishes from Riverdance.

"Oh, no, I brought it to the end of the song and we didn't get a chance to jam!" (or play enough Ziggy)

"I think I saw you, in an icecream parlor,
drinking milkshakes, cold and long.
Smiling and waving and looking so fine,
I don't think you knew, you were in the song."

Do you know the world is supposed to end in 2012? Not quite five years, but then again Bowie was doing it in the 70's. Oops.
