another productive day
Two productive days in a row, what will I do!
I did sleep a little later than I had planned this morning. The wind was howling and shaking the house. The rain was pounding down, or sideways at least. The bed just seemed a good place to stay for an extra hour.
Then I got up and went in to work for 2 1/2 hours of very productive work. When it stopped raining I came home and waited for it to dry out a bit before venturing into the garden.
Today in the garden I:
Tweaked my back (not a good thing at all)
Tied up the blackberries so they will grow in the directions we want them to
Planted two rows of snow peas
Planted three rows of radishes
Planted one row of bok choy
All the rows are short, only 10ft at most because we have a small garden. I have space reserved for another area of bok choy. The radishes will hopefully be harvested in late May and be replaced by bush beans. I have a short row set aside for pole beans. I have space set aside for one row of carrots, despite the fact that our ground is not good for root vegetables. I have some space set aside for lettuce, peppers, and herbs. I have some other space I'm not sure what I'm going to plant, perhaps a mix of radishes and bok choy for starters.
In random facts, I counted the garlic sprouts in the largest of our garlic beds today: 57! We've got four other smaller beds.
I'm trying to get the most out of our space while sticking to things that I believe in.
