I finished the last book in A Series of Unfortunate Events, "The End", last night. To review the last book in a series of thirteen without spoilers is a daunting task. In this book we get to meet up with some friends from the past, though not as many as we might like. We get some resolution, but much like life, more things are left unresolved than are resolved.

The end of "The End" wasn't as dire as I expected at the end of the "Penultimate Peril". "The End" manages to give the reader just a tiny bit of something they might want while not betraying the Series of Unfortunate events. If at the end of the "The End" you feel you've been cheated out a neatly tied up happy ending, remember you were told. Repeatedly.

"Now I know how Joan of Arc felt,
as flames rose to her Roman nose
and her walkman started to melt." -- The Smiths
