Yesterday I was talking with one of the guys I used to work with on a regular basis. He's really into music and we often exchange CDs. In fact, I just returned an excellent one by the Waybacks and loaned him a Clash and a klezmer CD.

He was telling me that his turntable isn't working and he looked so unbelievably sad. His turntable is a vintage Phillips that has esoteric touch sensors for the switches. The trouble is the bulbs under the touch sensors are esoteric too and don't last forever. They are near impossible to find. When I got home I started doing searches for the bulbs and facts about the turntable in general. I came up with some leads, but didn't know the model number, so this morning I checked with him to get the model number.

Tonight I found a turntable rebuild kit with the 4 light bulbs, a replacement power switch and a replacement belt. Even if he doesn't need the belt and the power switch now, his drive belt is probably in pretty sad shape and the power switch can't hurt. Ordered and shipping out of Rhode Island. I should have it by mid-week next week and be able to drop it off at his desk at work.
