Today was primarily dedicated to another long outstanding chainmail project. Yesterday while putting away the rings used for the purse I came across rings I'd already prep'd for the "lace" skirt I was making. Today I pulled out the rings and sat down to knit. In about two seconds I realized why I'd stopped in the first place. The pattern for the skirt is very open and with it sitting on your lap (or table) in a pile, you really can't see where you're supposed to put the next link. The rows get completely mixed up and the whole thing tends to turn upside down and inside out.

I got the idea to suspend it and work with it hanging. Since I couldn't get [livejournal.com profile] derien to stand still and twirl about on command for 8 hours I decided to use a photo lamp that I have. It worked out very well. I can raise it up so that the height of the bottom row stays right where I need it. Why didn't I think of this trick before?

The skirt is probably about half done now. Quite shortly I'll have to work out what happens with the next part of the pattern.

[livejournal.com profile] derien and I took a little walk around town to various used bookstores. We practiced moderation and only came home with about 6 small volumes. We need another bookshelf and perhaps somewhere to put it.
