Every day this week after work I've been working on programming project for a friend. Well actually most of the time has been refamiliarizing myself with systems and code I haven't looked at in over a year. I did some conceptually interesting things when I wrote the code a couple of years ago.

On a somewhat related note, one of the guys at work asked me when I was going to run for office. I had said, "there were some difficulties" when employees performed a task earlier in the day. He thought it was the perfect political phrasing. I thought I was just being nice not airing someone else's dirty linen. He had a need to know that there where problems but who and the gory details where not important and would be gossip.

I only thought of that because "conceptually interesting" could mean almost anything. What was it really? I made a database that stores instructions on how to modify itself. I wrote a program that knows it needs to do something with data but until it uses some of the data to find out what, it's not really sure what to do. Then I combined the two with some complex data structures. All in all it turned what could have been miles of code into a few lines. But in truth I only did it because it was a challenge which was twisted enough to stretch my brain.

I guess for some of you it would be a Perl/Mysql/PHP nc incest drabble. "Mysql woke from its sleep state as Perl inserted the entire length, breadth, width, and in fact other dimensions of the n-dimensional array." No, I'm not going to write the whole thing.

Who cares? Well at this point not even I do. I'm just waiting for the food to finish cooking.
