tea is the food of the gods
I have been feeling sick again. Just can't seem to shake this one symptom or another thing. So today I'm pumping in massive amounts of hot tea and trying to ignore the lack of energy and general feeling of ick.
I got the new rear bumper on the van yesterday. It looks so nice and shiny. Now it's real obvious the van needs a paint job. I'm working on getting the new front bumper on. It requires some drilling and my cordless chuckless drill is something that only Crowley could have come up with. I swear I could make the hold faster with my fingernail.
The state law in Maine says that if the landlord is providing heat they must maintain 68F degrees within something like a foot of the wall 3 feet above the floor. Our landlord provides heat, hot water, and natural gas for cooking. They think it's a wise thing to keep the kitchen barely 68 and the bedroom and bath somewhere a bit lower.
I'm a naturally cold person. I am comfortable at about 78. If I'm active I can be fine at 70. But stepping onto the tile floor in the bathroom somewhere south of 68 in the morning is not someplace I want to be. My solution for the bath; long, long, very hot showers which have the effect of raising the temperature over 70 in the bathroom. For the rest of the rooms; lots of hot tea and lots of cooking things in the oven or on the stove for a long time.
Now if the landlord actually upped the heat about two degrees it would probably cut my shower times by a few minutes, eliminated that time the shower is running before I step in, and cut the amount of gas used in the stove. My guess is that heating the apartment via a furnace is a lot more efficient than using heat transfer form hot water and cooking food.
