I don't write fanfic.
Montgomery Scott was a tired man. He had been through much in seventy two years of life. Seventy five years in a transporter beam wasn't so bad either. He'd even managed to survive the admiration of the crew on the new Enterprise. But the final straw had been the evasive maneuvers required to get out of Lwaxana Troi's tractor beam.
He headed off as fast as the Goddard could take him. He needed to get away. Somewhere where he could be alone to think, or at least catch up on reading his technical journals. But where could an outdated engineer go where no one would bother him? Scotty search his brain for a while then began to search further.
The answer of course, lay in the stars.
More specifically the answer lay circling a small planet with an absence of atmosphere and a preponderance of iron. The Lagrange point of this planet was home to several slowly decaying hulks including one NCC-1657, the Potemkin. The Potemkin had never been his ship, but it was one of the few surviving Constitution class starships left relatively intact. Scotty figured bringing it up to snuff would give him a hobby for the next seventy-five years.
Fortunately, he still had many of the most vital components in storage from when he'd been in charge of the retrofit of the Enterprise. At the time they were just throwing the stuff away, so he just kind of pulled it out of the trash. With a little adaptation, the tractor beam of the shuttle worked fine for towing the spare parts to their destination, although he did have to stop once or twice to "tune" things to work a little better than the designers may have anticipated.
...
I thought of two endings the tags of which are
Scotty/Computer Rom or (ROM)
Scotty/Computer NC,snuff,comedy
User your imagination to come up with the plot lines. :) I'm not going to finish writing it. It's sat on my desktop for over a year as it is.
