It has been a beautiful day so far.

We got up early this morning and went out to breakfast at Becky's. I ate way too much and stumbled home through the warm morning sunshine in a food coma. Got the dishes done, got the stove cleaned, (laid on the couch in agony from back pain), got some other little things done, then went down the street to one of my favorite used bookstores.

The woman who owns the bookstore once again commented on my eclectic selection.

Japanese Homes and Their Surroundings, Edward S. Morse
Masterpieces of Fantasy & Wonder, compiled by David G. Hartwell (for [livejournal.com profile] derien mainly)
The Coastal Cruiser, Tony Gibbs (a book about small sailboats)
The Speaker's Manual of Pronunciation, Fannie Dickerson Chase c.1908
Kerl's Common School Grammar, Simon Kerl c. 1865!
Our Deportment, John H. Young c. 1882
and two other items which may be presents so I'm not going to mention them here.

You may think I bought the deportment book just to scoff and laugh but it is truly a treasure.

We went out the the gourmet kitchen place to pick up a cutting board that meets [livejournal.com profile] derien's specifications. We were looking for a new fry pan, since the non-stick on ours is mostly gone and it's probably not safe to cook food in. We got some ideas, but fled the store when we become overwhelmed by a flood of fluttering, chattering, twittering yuppies.
