Just a random thought:

Human relationship as electronic component, a capacitor. A capacitor takes in and stores up current, then at some point discharges said current all at once.

Think about the dysfunctional relationships you've been in. You're going along, tolerating all the little things that are driving you crazy then *bam* you explode. Or conversely, you think everything is fine, then all of a sudden you're confronted with a raging lunatic who's frothing at the mouth saying something about your socks or the tune you're humming.

Think about the functional relationships you've been in. You put in a little effort on a regular basis, then all of a sudden when the rest of your life has gone to complete shit, the capcitor discharges and fills you back up with some nominal amount of energy.

I suppose there is an argument that some relationships are actually resistors and I'm sure that in some triads one of the relationships might function as a bridge rectifier, but I don't know that much about circuits.

Hey, you get what you pay for and this metaphor was free. You've got to think of something while you're cleaning the house.

Oh, if someone calls your name and thows you a capacitor when you look, don't catch it.
