reading (Utopia)
Mar. 29th, 2006 06:52 pmI just finished Thomas More's "Utopia" I had read it back in high school, but it had been a while. I like reading people's attempts to make better societies. I won't go into a specific review of "Utopia" because I figure almost everyone was forced to read it in school.
I see many common threads between the different society builders; More, Plato, Thoreau, and Marx all share different bits and pieces that they either think would be better or see as bad in the society that they know. It's interesting to see where they meet and which aspects of life they differ on. That's almost as fun as looking for the pieces they are utterly ignoring.
