I finished the last poem in Shel Silverstein's "A Light in the Attic" last night. Silverstein's poetry is exceedingly fun to read and I couldn't help but read selections aloud. I love the way he combines the whimsical with the ordinary to come up with unique and funny.

Wouldn't it be cool if some fictional character's sexual orientation or some real person's sexual orientation was no more significant than their hair color? I understand the excitement in some parts of fandom, but a fictional characters orientation shouldn't make headline news.

When will the day come when someones sexual orientation is only a matter of concern when you want to have a sexual relationship with them? Do I care where you lie down on the Kinsey scale? Not unless I want you to lie down with me.

"and don't let them bury me in some field full of hearts and shamrocks."
