reading (The Cruise of the Jasper B.)

I finished "The Cruise of the Jasper B." last night. Unlike the other Don Marquis books I've read this one is a single continuous story. It is filled with zany characters and zany situations. I'm not sure why this wasn't made into a movie, oh wait, I just checked IMDB, it was a 1926 silent movie. Anyway, it's a fun read. It's stuffed full of slapstick, confusion, and swashbuckling. It in no way touches on realism, but that's evident from the outset. If you wanted realism you wouldn't be reading a book by a guy whose most famous character is a cockroach.
