some days are better than others
Jun. 16th, 2010 05:53 pmThe re-org that has been in progress for 5 months and was promised 15 months ago finally came to fruition today.
I have the same job title, same pay, now with a job description. In order to get my job description to fit into my current pay grade they left out all of the more complicated bits that they count on me for. No programming, coding, or systems design mentioned. No after hours support mentioned. In fact, the only things that were mentioned were the things I do least: report design and data analysis.
I hate doing the interview game and looking for a new job, but after almost two years of hearing "we'll take care of you" and "the work you do is vital" and "we couldn't have done that huge thing without you" this is just rude. For now, I'm going to take them at their word and do exactly what is in my new job description. It'll mean less time in the office and the huge project that's due to roll out next week will most likely Hindenburg. I'm sure IS will be willing to put it on their timeline for early 2012.
I was luckier than some. The re-org was supposed to be headcount neutral and it was. But what they didn't say was that they were going to axe people and leave empty slots in their space. I was completely floored by some of the decisions they made.
This was so badly handled in all phases and I'm so angry, words really don't do it.

of all the people that won't be missed." - L7
I'm sorry for those where weren't as fortunate today and all the prior days.
