I finished "Shades of Grey" Thursday evening. It wasn't the usual Japser Fforde book. His usual work is fast paced and zany from the start. This book took longer to build up steam and was darker hued. It did take me a while to get into it, but I read the last 200 pages in one sitting and then couldn't get to sleep because I was thinking about what the characters would do next and the implications of what Eddie, the main character, had learned. I look forward to the sequel.

If you're looking for a typical Jasper Fforde, this isn't your best bet. But it's an interesting distopia which will suck you in once it gets rolling.

Oh, and it's even got Fforde's Prefects. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
