I sang a verse of this spontaneously this morning while waiting for my pancake. The rest of it came from there. Given enough sugar and caffeine, we can do anything. It was an awful lot of fun.

To the tune of Silver Bells

Crap in plastic, children spastic,
with behaviors so vile,
In the air
there's a fever
of spending.
Throwing elbows,
Runny kid's nose,
Shopping aisle after aisle,
and with every transaction it's clear

Citi swells, citi swells,
send off your check to Sioux City
ka'ching, ka'ching,
Soon it will be payment day

How the cold bites
Even fist fights
Soon break out with a scream
As consumer greed
grows beyond measure.

Feel the arms ache
See the purse break
We are charging obscene
And because of the bustle
this year

Citi swells, citi swells,
Isn't it it all such a pity.
Ring-a-ling, cell phones ring,
what did you buy me today!

Alternate lines kept in reserve for variation:
-your net worth is itty bitty
-just ignore this little ditty
-tomorrow won't be so pretty
