eorI finished "The Penultimate Peril", book 12 in A Series of Unfortunate Events, on Friday evening. Wow, these books have grown up fast! Laced amongst the word play, the expository asides (a word here which means a separate thought inserted into a sentence), and very funny descriptions is darkness more cynical than a curmudgeon's most dystopian daydreams. It's like real life!
I am almost frightened to read the final installment. Every one of these books says to put it down and go read something more pleasant, perhaps for once I should take the advice.
