I finished The Fairy-tale Detectives over the weekend between shuttling people here and there and not sleeping. This book feels pretty flat. I wasn't able to get into either the characters or the action. There are plot holes you could drive a bus through. I don't think I'd willingly expose any child I liked to this book. It's not that it would be bad for them, it's just bland and the kind of saccharine that kids can get plenty of on television and in movies. Which makes sense because the author writes screenplays. Some of the passages feel written for video rather than print.
