After three days of tearing apart the van's engine, cleaning, inspecting, replacing parts today I put everything back together. I didn't have the hose clamps for some of the larger vacuum hoses (why weren't they clamped before?). I used some plastic wire ties as a temporary fix. Everything plugged in, turn the key.... crank... crank... die. Oops, primary battery is kind of low. Jumper cables from the secondary battery. Crank, crank, crank, crank, crank. Okay, that sounds more enthusiastic, but where is fire. It's an ignition switch because it's suppose to invoke ignition. On just a guess, I pulled the plug on one of the electrical components that I had changed and put the old one back on. Crank, vrooom or more accurately put-put-put it is a VW after all. Well, I guess the old part wasn't faulty after all.

It sounded so nice and happy I took it out for a cruise around town. That's also the easiest way to get the battery charged back up. Mental note: cruise past the art college looking hippy more often.

mixing up her precious paints,
for a portrait of me
she titled Dylan you ain't."
Adam Brodsky "Cubicle Girl"

I like spring. Life returns, rejoice! Rejoice! That and you can go outside without a coat.
