eorIt took me a while to get around to reading the November/December Asimov's.
There were quite a few "another installment in the series" in this issue. I'm not sure the point of Rudy Rucker & Marc Laidlaw's continuing surfer series. The first one wasn't a bad lark, but the returns have been diminishing since. Allen M. Steele's Sanctary series fits his writing style better than the Coyote series, but it feels like it should just be released in novel format. R. Garcia Y Robertson's Vikings & Mongols in Space series is becoming a little less cringeworthy. Although there was still a fair amount of pulling rabbits out of random hats.
My favorites this month were Kali Wallace's "The River of Blood and Wine" and James Van Pelt's "SeeApp". James Patrick Kelly's "Selfless" was interesting as well and I think I understood the point and the end. I liked the end twist on Octavia Cade's "Inside the Body of Relatives".
