Well, now I'm back to working (and getting paid) full time. I must admit, I liked only working 32 hours a week. Now that I'm back to full time, my work days generally end up creeping over 8 hours, mostly significantly over. Getting held to 32 had its benefits. During the week it is hard to get anything done besides daily necessities and work.

In the month of July it was hard to get anything done because where June was very dry and moderate temps, July we had a lot of rain, heat, and humidity. I struggled to find a time when the lawn was dry enough to mow that wasn't in the 90's. Since derien was recovering from shoulder surgery just getting through the lawn took a significant chunk of the time it wasn't raining or roasting.

But we did get a lot of things done. The chimneys are clean for the heating season. The gutters got cleaned out right before the tropical storm came through and dumped a lot of rain on us. I've worked steadily on getting my router table enclosed and arranged. I just have to glue three more PVC joints to finish the awning for the passenger side of the van, all the drilling, cutting, and painting are done. I've started painting the rails for the driver's side. Still have to order the brackets. We've removed and burned an amazing amount of honeysuckle. There is still another huge pile to burn. We did a walk around the property yesterday to assess where there is still rose, barberry, or honeysuckle to be cleaned out and it's really not that much left. It feels overwhelming, but compared to what is already done it's not much. Finished wiring the stereo and the upper bunk power pod in the van. Also replaced the clock LED in the dash, then replaced the capacitor for the clock which made a functional clock again. I still have one segment of the LED that's not working, that might be dust on a contact. I may pull it apart and try to wipe off all the bits to see if I can get the last segment working. Got the defrost cable replaced and functional. So now the only thing in the dash that doesn't work is the tachometer. Got rid of some things that have been hanging around not getting used: 2 roles of fence wire, the barn fridge, the 8 foot wooden bench. All to good causes. I've gathered another large box of stuff to go to goodwill.

We've been harvesting and freezing bush beans and pole beans. We are about out of freezer space, so we'll have to start canning them next. I have harvested the garlic for this year and set aside seed garlic for fall planting. Got a pretty decent haul, maybe a little less than last year, but mostly good sized roots. We had enough thimbleberries (wild black raspberries) this year to make jam. Our blackberries are just getting ripe. It's a good thing the birds and the bugs eat them because there will be way too many for us to keep up with.
