I actually ended up working all five days this week, so a relatively short weekend. I read a headline the other day that 25% of American women were considering leaving the workforce or reducing their hours. How many men feel the same way? I'm certainly in the number. I'd like to ease my way out of the work force. Not so much fall out of the workforce as saunter vaguely downwards.
I've been paying way too much attention to politics. It is not good for my health or productivity (and probably not anyone else's either).
When I was productive this weekend most of my time was spent dealing with wood. Splitting the large rounds, stacking the splits, and cleaning up the small twigs for kindling bundles. I didn't get all the splitting done, but it is down to just the very gnarliest pieces with huge knots. I don't know how I'm going to get those down small enough to fit in either of the stoves! I may take the chainsaw to some of them.
Today I also did some work on the van. Finished tightening the front suspension bolts from last weekend. Bled the air out of the cooling system and checked for leaks. Bled the front passenger brake (that's the one I broke the hardline during the suspension work). I did drive the van forward and backward about 20 ft to make sure everything functioned normally. It can't be really driven until the alignment is done, which means it will be taking a ride somewhere to get the alignment done. But before that I need to install the heavy duty anti-sway bar which came during the week last week. It would be great if I could get that done tomorrow after work, but that's a tight window.
Here is a random fun fact: On Kobo.com (ebook vendor), there is a category heading for "Fiction - YA > Dystopia". There is no category for "Adult Fiction > Dystopia". So, we can conclude two things: 1) I am more mentally in tune with Gen Z than I am with older adults 2) Gen Z probably has a better grip on current events than any of the previous generations. I mean face it, this is either a farce or a dystopia and the plague definitely pulls it toward dystopia.
Second random fact: Watching Air Safety Institute Accident Cast Study videos is less scary and stressful than watching the news. I'm not flying right now. It has been a very, very long time since I've flown in a private single engine aircraft. You know what the outcome will be because otherwise they wouldn't have made a video to teach you not to do this.
Birdbox studio animations are short and usually very dark humor.
