Bread v2.0 beta
Jun. 10th, 2003 10:13 pmOkay so today's experiment had the less rise than an impotent hedgehog, but it held together enough.
derien says it tastes like a good unseeded rye. To me it tastes a bit like a whole weat bread but I wouldn't know a rye if it walked up and shook my hand. This version is definitely an upgrade into edibility. I'll have to have a talk with my yeast and see what it's particular issue is with rising and shining.
I made a batch of curry sauce today and used half of it on chicken madras tonight. The madras turned out good, with a nice up front burn and a lot of flavor. Actually, it rocked like a troll band.
I went out and visited the birds, tent caterpillars, and little red spiders out at the quarry this afternoon. It was beautiful, sunny, quiet with the occasional reasuring crash, thud, clunk from inside the warehouses next door. The sunlight was glinting attractively off the broken beer bottles. The tent caterpillars were showing off their climbing prowess on the face. I helped a few of them down the gravity well at which they would only laugh and start back up again.
