Note to self: Handle on new large saucepan stays nice and cool. Handle on lid of new large saucepan does not.

What an incredibly busy long weekend. In my world the weekend lasted until Monday night. My parents have been visiting for the past two week so my normal routine isn't. I just have a hard time getting stuff done when there are other people around to distract me.

We went to my cousin's house on Sunday for a birthday party cookout. I ate all kinds of stuff with some luck and prior planning by my cousin and his wife, didn't get any gluten. The food was yummy, I couldn't stop eating. It was fun to watch the kids all running around playing. While we were down there we dropped off three bags of gluten laden food for them.

Yesterday I drove the van down to Salisbury Beach, MA and set it up for the 'rents. The drive was made more challenging by my reluctance to turn the van off during the process. I've been having motivational issues with the van lately. Once it's started everything is fine and it'll go right along, but sometimes she just doesn't want to start. Fortunately Maine is covered with hills. As long as I have about eight empty feet on a downslope I'm all set. While setting up the camper I discovered a bad circuit breaker and the fact the fridge isn't functioning on 110v. The fridge should work fine for them on gas, but I don't look forward to pulling it out to figure out why it isn't playing on the land line. The circuit breaker is an easy fix.

Today has been a domestic day. I did so many dishes my hands look like an old muppet's face. I thought I just cleaned all the burner pans on the stove? Somehow it needed to be done again. I rounded up the dust bunnies and had a little rodeo. I did three rounds with the hall closet. I think if I can go back in for a few more rounds I might win the decision. Someday this week I have to defrost the fridge again. The warm weather and having four people opening and closing it all the time have turned the freezer into a snowmaking machine.

Tonight it's back to curry and basmati rice, all is right with the world.
