Dec. 9th, 2005 08:34 pmFirst parking ban of the season. We got 13 inches today, a record for December 9th. Getting home was a challenge because the city had put off bringing out the plows. I managed to make it to the parking garage with some difficulty. Now the plows are out and running, so it'll be easy if slow travel tomorrow morning. I'll have to get up early and walk down to the parking garage.
On the walk back from the parking garage I helped push one woman's car through an intersection. In the standard way of Mainers, four of us were crossing an intersection downtown and three of us stopped and pushed her uphill through the intersection. It's just something people walking during snowstorms around here do, like throwing a rope to a drowning person.
Tomorrow marks the halfway point of my busy season. So far, so good. Only minor nicks, cuts, and muscle fatigue. I started out trying to get lots of rest, now I've given up on that and now I'm just getting through. It's not like the old accounting days when busy season lasted 3 months or more. One month is pretty easy to do when it comes right down to it.
