I survived work today, just barely. I can feel my blood pressure dropping and my muscles relaxing. I'm listening to sun and sea music and I've got a rum drink. Life is getting better fast. We fly south tomorrow morning at 6am. Feel free to be envious for the next seven days.

Yesterday I finished the October/November double issue of Asimov's. 'Twas some thick, with 2 novellas, 2 novelettes, and 6 short stories. The issue seemed to be divided so that each month could feel represented. Some of the shorter works were Halloween style creepy or scary. The longer fiction was lighter and brighter for the most part. Biodad was a real creepfest and some of the bits of Foster reminded me of Bradbury. I found subplot the author may not have intended in "A Billion Eves." It's hard to name a favorite in this one because the stories are quite diverse and have very different appeal. Which part is better the sweet or the sour in sweet and sour pork?

See you in a week. I may check in between now and then via the wonder of this here Internet thing, but I wouldn't count on it.
