I reread "The Green Hills of Earth" yesterday. I like the old fashion tint to the short stories here, which are still solid despite being half a century old. Some of the science doesn't hold up, but the characters are still current. This is the early Heinlein, more subtle in his social criticism and more varied in his themes, than the later Heinlein. The stories take place in a common universe, but none of them are sacrificed for the overall plot.
