Before I go any further, let me say that life hasn't been bad. I've been busy, sick, and because of these coupled with the usual Fall lethargy, I've been kind of overwhelmed, but that doesn't mean life is full of woe and tragedy, hand staple forehead. No, I've just been fundamentally failing to deal. For me that means curling up in bed, or playing computer games and ignoring life. I really should snap out of it. So that's where I've been, nowhere.

In news of the mundane, I've been working a lot. The boss who hired me has been replaced. I've got a new supervisor and she actually talks to her direct reports! There are changes in store for my little group, but there is very little visibility as to what they'll amount to at this point. Maybe we'll have more help, maybe we'll have less work, maybe we'll run madly in another direction. They continue to pay me every week and I learn new things on a regular basis, so everything else is window dressing at this point.

I've decided I want to go to a fiddle festival in Canada next year. Perhaps this one. Fiddle isn't my favorite string instrument, but the maritime Canadians have a great tradition with the instrument and there aren't a lot of cello festivals. I'm not sure how I'm going to swing the time to drive up, back, stay at the festival for a long while, and sneak off for a tour of Cape Breton. Perhaps I can forgo sleep for ten days.
