I know I haven't been around LJ much at all lately. By the time I get home I either don't want to sit in front of the computer or I don't have the brain to write coherent sentences. That said, I offer no guarantee that the following will be coherent.

I swear it was yesterday that my most promising pepper had 3 little proto-peppers on it. I put the whole gang out in the sun yesterday afternoon and left them out last night so they'd get the sun today. I brought them back in when the wind came up this afternoon and it now has 3 full fledged peppers, 5 proto-peppers, 2 more flowers and a bunch of buds. It also had some aphids, but I'm hoping they don't get out of control.

The only other pepper that's producing is the jalepeno that had fruit on it when we bought it. It's got four small peppers at the moment. The ancho appears to be considering the matter. One of the Thai hots just wants to send up more stalks and the other one got its top leaves sucked dry by aphids and doesn't want to play at the moment.

In non-pepper news, there's been a lot going on. I've been working tons. The new boss is one of those personable likeable people. I'm beginning to hate him. He walked in saying we were overworked and we needed to control the flow of work to each person. Then proceeded to add to the flow and not staunch the prior flow at all. I'm seriously considering looking for another job (within the company until Mar. outside the company after that). Smiling and saying thanks doesn't make up for blowing my entire weekend.

I did get out and do some more weeding today after I got home from work. I'm not done yet, but I'm getting close. Once I'm done with the basic weeding, I want to clear out around the small clump of blackberry bushes. Yes, blackberry bushes! I think they should be nurtured and encouraged. There are also wild strawberries and I believe some raspberries. The next big project on that front is taking on the Japanese Knotweed, an invasive species like bamboo, that is taking over a portion of the back lawn. It will take over the whole thing if left unchecked.

Last weekend we mapped out our electrical circuits and checked to make sure which thermostat controlled what in the heating. I discovered that our heating system is heating the front hall common area. That will change by fall. I'm thinking we might want to change piping for the heating zones. One zone covers our bedroom, the livingroom, the spare room, the bath and the kitchen. The other zone covers the hall, the guest bedroom, and the aforementioned entryway. Seems a bit unbalanced and impractical.

Last weekend I tore apart the cloths drier to clean the fan out and found the fan was partially broken. I ordered the part and it arrived today, so I put it back together again, cleaned out more lint, mounted it on top of the washer and tested the whole setup out. I'm not sure the changes made any difference, but the thing has to be working a bit less with a fully functional fan and a half ton of lint cleaned out of various parts.

What else, oh, I've been messing with my audio setup hard. Added a digital switcher so that both the computers and the DVD player can pipe through the stereo. That had been on the list for a while. Got new speaker wire so the speakers in the kitchen can each sit on their own shelf. I also got a couple of shorter digital coax cables and replaced the RCA cables I had been using as temporary substitutes. The big speakers sound really good now and the small kitchen speakers sound quite pretty although they probably wouldn't suit bass fanatics. I've been doing various experiments with different pieces of equipment and music. I've actually been pleasantly surprised by the sound of some old favorites.

I need to get to sleep early tonight because I've still got to go into work tomorrow morning. But the afternoon is supposed to be sunny again so I might get the weeding finished or get Doe's treadmill or do something else productive.
