haven't even reach the solstice yet
Jun. 19th, 2020 09:05 pmToday we got out and got started early to try to get something done before the heat of the day. I started cleaning up some of the bamboo which Derien pulled yesterday being careful to collect all the tassles of seeds into a garbage bag. Didn't finish that, but went on to other things to give my back and hands a break. We went back downhill to where I was pulling up honeysuckle and rose yesterday and continued on that area. Got some more of each pulled and piled and got overheated pretty quickly. When we came to the house for hydration, I decided it was time to stop for that for the day.
I spent the rest of the day working on wiring in the van. I didn't get a lot done, but I puttered along at some of the things I had outstanding. I did all the prep wiring for the Uniwerks Upperbunk LightPd. This will provide us USB power plugs available the to the upper bed and also a pair of red LED's that we can switch on when we need to do something at night and don't want to ruin our night vision or wake up everyone in the area. I got all the wiring behind the panel set, now I just have to run one wire over the headliner and down behind the dash. I'll do that when I run the speaker wires from the rear and they have to pass through the same area. I also finished the installation of the headlight relay kit (this reduces current going through the headlight switch to prevent melt switches and fires). It turned into more of an epic saga than I expected. It probably would have been quicker and easier if I'd just gotten the parts and built it from scratch. But now it is in and finished pretty cleanly.
Tomorrow the plan is to get up early again and get outside while it's still relatively cool.
